Default How many miles driven on your sleeved block?

Ive looked far and wide for a general longevity number.
I know it will vary greatly depending on how it driven
Those of you boosted and DD. What kind of milage are you at, what kind of wear is showing on the piston/sleeves.

Bump as I'm also curious.

I'm curious to, as I'm about to do a sleeved block and supercharge it.

Be nice to see if any of these "built" engines can match a 100% oem engine in terms of reliability. I haven't seen a single one yet.

They can't, iron sleeves are actually a downgrade from the FRM liners. They resist cracking and have much lower friction the only real bottleneck to the stock engine is that it's an open deck. You need a special cylinder coating to be able to have high revs, especially reliable high revs, Porsche GT3, the last 2 generations of Ferrari's, new engines from AMG all use cylinder coatings. Honda was ahead of the curve by almost 15 years.

Match it? ? Doubt it. But, as the years go on, and more and more engines need to be rebuilt, we'll be seeing more and more of these types of engines. Because people won't be able to necessarily get fresh ones from Honda.

But, the Integra GSR engines and the Type R engine are extremely high reving, and I don't think they had any special coatings.

I never owned a b18 long enough. Are there many b18's with 150,000+ miles of abuse still running well without needing a rebuild?

I know there were plenty of Integra GSR's (b18c1) with 150k+ and way above. I sold one last year with 185k+ that still ran well but did burn some oil(Mobil 1). That car also seemed to be fairly neglected when I got it. GSR's seemed to last similarly to s2k's but had an 8200 rpm redline IIRC. ITR's revved to 9k or so but their longevity is not as well documented for many reasons. They are much more rare and less likely to be used as dailies and more likely to be modded. That being said, I have seen many on the interwebs with some high mileage.

Have any of you guys heard of having sleeves coated after being installed? Such as nikasil or microblue?
