Thats about right. 0.7-0.9 of a quart is what it will hold. Don't overfill it too much.

Jack up the car and keep it on ground level. Once it starts leaking out from the Fill hole, your good.

If you don't have 4 jacks, use 2 jacks in the rear and jack up the front so the car can stay leveled.

I usually put it a full quart. I was surprised that one dealership fills a new diff before installing to the very top putting in more lube than you could ever use... unless you stood the car on its nose.

Use the same fluid. When you are talking about a $20-$30K car, $16 is nothing.

fill to spill = fill it until it runs out the fill hole, you want the maximum that can be held by the assembly. i have a cocktail blend of mobile 75w90 ($9) and lucas ($9). the mobile is the main differential fluid but the lucas is there to stick on the gears and quiet the differential. s2kpuddydad recommended throwing in a little lucas. my 4.77s are smooth and quiet...
