Default how much top speed do u lose

Im asking if anyone knows how much top speed do u lose when you change ur final gear to a 4.57 or a 4.77. I want to help out my off the line start as much as possible with out killing alot of my high speed. I dont want to do a 4.77 and top speed only be 100mph. My S just blew the diff. and looking to change the gear while im in there. I have a sc and is putting 340hp to wheels. This info would be greatly aprecated.

Please use "search"
Stock is 4.1 = 160mph
4.57 = 143mph(-14%)
4.77 = 137mph(-10%)

No, I have a 4.57 final gear and I have run 150 MPH. It runs 144 at 7700RPMS. And I have a Comptech SC.

did you do the yellow box calibration? Sure your speedo is not right.....its probably possibel to do more than said. Many members have done well over 160.

How much time have you spent over 140mph?
Even at 4.77 you will still have the gearing to get 140.

In all likelihood, above 145 or so is really not going to happen often unless you're some kind of maniac. I wouldn't worry about anything more than that.

I agree with the guys that mentioned "how many times are you gonna go past 140?" Personally I've only tapped into 150 a couple times but will probably not do that anymore. True some may believe i'm a maniac but that's alright. To each their own.

I'm going to be putting the 4.57 gears into my car because I feel it needs it down low and chances are i'm mostly going to be taking the car up to 80-90mps max. Because seriously who really drives their car past 130mph on a regular basis?
