No, diff oil is different from tranny oil. You need two different types of fluid. A lot of us are using Mobil Synthetic Gear Lubricant SAE 75W-90 in the differential, and Honda Manual Transmission Fluid Honda Genuine HG in the transmission.

Look here for the two different threads one for the tranny and one for the differential for additional info: http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=108435

This is probably a dumb question but I have never owned a car where I had to have the dif. oil changed. Does have the dif. oil changed make the transmission shifting any smoother? Sorry for the noob question if this has been asked before.

differential is at the back of the car.. its what transfers power from the driveshaft (being driven by the transmission) to each rear wheel. Since it has gears inside, it requires a lubricant, which ultimately breaks down and needs replacement.

To improve tranny shifting, you replace transmission fluid..

two separate things.

Okay so when people talk about breaking their diffs from the launches it just because it can't handle the power. Thanks for the info.
