How often should you replace an after market intake.
I have an Injen CAI. How often should i replace the filter. Its been about 10-12k now, and i'm curious. Also, if i need to replace it, whats the best replacement filter. Thnx,

So what, i just take it off, clean it out with water, and then dry it?

First, make sure it is reuseable. I'm almost positive it is.
Then, get yourself an air filter cleaning kit like the K&N one. It has two components to it. The first one you spray onto the filter and then run warm water to flush it out. You then air dry it thoroughly.
Finally, the kit contains an oil which you use to treat the filter. The kit will have complete instructions. The advantage of this kind of filter is that it should be the last one you will have to buy for your car. K&N brags that theirs will last 1 million miles. You should clean it annually or more often if you live in a dusty area.
You paid for a "lifetime" air filter. Don't throw it away.
