When I had to replace the bulb in my start button, I noted that the bulb has a little tiny red condom on it to make the light reddish. I removed it to see what happened to the lighting. Turns out that the light, once the condom is removed, is almost a perfect match for the orange/amber of our dash cluster. Looks tons better and is a bit more noticeable.
@Billman250 Thanks for the advice! Given you did not mention the lug on the other side, that confirmed for me that the tab was the only thing I needed to press to get the thing moving. I did press the tab firmly and at the same time pushed and cocked the start button a tad to begin pushing it out. It came out super-easy! A little guidance / affirmation can go a long way.
My dash has now been completely re-bulbed and the start button I replaced looks marvelous!
The illumination is pronounced due to having my iPhone in night mode when taking the picture. While I toyed with using a brighter bulb for the start button, I elected to stick with original bulb type. The amber bulbs used for the radio dash controls are a little brighter and of the same rating, but after comparing the two I preferred the reddish tint. YMMV.
Took a second look at mine and popped it out with a bit more force than I originally thought it would need. Cocking the start button to the side also depressed the metal tab so I didn't need to do that separately. Thanks Billman.
