Hypothetical?: How to get Artic cold?
This is just a theoretical question about air conditioning. Mine works fine, but I always wondered what it would take to make the AC really really cold, like a blast of freezing wind.
Is this possible? How?

I suppose you could increase the volume of the refrigerant in the system (bigger condensor, bigger heat exchanger) and maybe a more powerful compressor.
When my car new, it was plenty cold, but as time went on, it just works "fine". Since you list your car as an '00, perhaps you should check to see if the refrigerant needs a bit of topping up. I'm sure some have disappeared over the years.

Well, the HVAC works by extracting the heat, rather than adding the cold. Short of replacing the entire HVAC system, you won't be getting any A/C much colder than stock. You'd need a larger, more efficient condenser and evaporator, and of course the new compressor whose output is matched to the condenser/evaporator.

But instead of simply topping off, perhaps you should vacuum all the refrigerant and charge it with new 134a. A slow vacuum would suck out all the contaminants (moisture, possibly incompatible X-brand refrigerants, etc.) and would most likely bring your vent temperature back down to what it was when brand new.
And if you feel the need to make this a DIY, I would recommend renting/buying a reclaiming unit. EPA will hit you hard if you get caught discharging refrigerant to the atmosphere. And by hard, I mean $10,000 hard.
Put NOS injectors in your vents. The evaporation of the NOS (or any other compressed gas for that matter) would make things nice and icy. Plus you shouldn't feel any pain when you crash into a tree while laughing your ass off.
