Default I can't get my shift knob off...

So last year I bought a Fortune Auto solid titanium shift knob. Not thinking at the time that titanium cold welds to steel, I put it on with no anti-seize (I know there's a special kind for titanium too).

So I can't remove my knob.

I have an AP1 (2001) and would it be possible to buy a new shift boot and new shift arm (what the shift knob is screwed on to) in order to use a new shift knob, or am I screwed? I've seen pics where the shift arm bolts on top of the transmission with three bolts, is this even possible in my situation?

I had a similar issue..

I ended up:
-cut shift boot (so you can get center console out of the way)
-follow the shift regrease DIY to get the shift lever out
-replaced shift lever with a used one I got from s2ki and used a new shift knob + boot

I was able to get my lever out without cutting the boot. Just lift the console up as much as you can and remove the boot from the bottom. Then saw off the knob, while avoiding sawing boot. It's doable.
