Xviper said I should share this (kinda of new topic):
If you have an ABS, SRS, EPS DTC it can not only be retrieved using the jumper "blinky" trick, they can also be cleared. With the exception of an SRS DTC which is cleared via MES connector. Basically anywhere in the helms manual where it say's to use PGM Tester SCS method it say's to connect the PGM-Tester and use it to jump the SCS to ground, well when you do the jumper "blinky" trick you are jumping PIN9 (the SCS wire brown) to a ground PIN4. It is the same thing as connecting the PGM-Tester and having it ground the SCS for you.

EDIT: oh shoot I forgot, as far as I know nothing I have discussed this entire thread applies to MY06 or really anything beyond MY03 (my helms 00-03). Also never clear a DTC of any sort without first addressing the problem.

I have an OBDII reader. Bring your car to tech day tomorrow and I'll pull the code for you.

sorry to hijack but when i start up my car the "maintenance required" light blinks and then turns off. I don't have my owners manual yet since i just got the car 1k miles ago. My car has about 43,500 miles. Any ideas or should I just shell out and get the code?

Maintenane required Indicator is just hooked to the odometer. It comes on at set intervals to remind people to get service. It's not the same as throwing a DTC or having your CEL come on. I don't remeber how to turn it off, someone will post it soon, or it is elsewhere on this forum. Good Luck

I think on a 00-01 your OBDII port is located on the passenger side up under the dash. Also aftermarket code readers can not really change settings or get you in trouble. The only exception would be maybe accidently clearing a DTC or freeze frame data. Even if you check a DTC yourself, I would not clear the DTC if I knew I was going to need the dealers help with the problem. Leave the DTC for the dealer if your going to need their help.
