Default I have a SoftTop Removal ?

I am thinking about taking my softtop out for good. It will knock off some weight and its also been cut from some punka$$ that vandalized the top a couple of months back. I love my hardtop regardless and I only have the top down ever so often so I am going to let this be a project this week. I was just wondering for those that have done this how hard is it to take the tracks out and the top out along with the motor. I have some plans for the gap that is going to be open from where the top was at that you guys might be interested in later. I am having a guy do some measurements on the gap this week and well I will just keep it a suprise. Also for those of you that dont have the top anymore how much weight would I be saving?

If you plan on taking out the motors, frame, and soft-top then it is not that hard. You will have to take out a lot of interior panels and the roll hoops in order to get access to the soft-top frame bolts. If you have a helms manual it will help a lot with the process of removing interior parts. To make this process a lot easier remove all those parts as one large piece, don't take off the soft-top then take out the frame. Remove it all as one piece.

I believe the motors, frame, and soft-top only weigh as much as an OEM hardtop. I was able to remove/install the entire frame and motors by myself, so i'm guessing it only weights in at about 40-50lbs

i did it too, its not hard, there are two spot welds that you have to cut off on each side that hold the bolts of the frame in and can be done with a dremel. can be done in less than a day with a six pack, about 40-50 lbs like kln said.
