I usually fill with above 3 gallons so it doesnt have as much room to slosh so perhaps the noise is less pronounced

I have an '06 and I've never once heard the sound of the gas sloshing, regardless of how much or how little gas is in the tank.

I was about to suggest that maybe they added some sound deadening material around the gas tank area, but then I saw that one of the posters in this thread has an '02 that doesn't have that problem.

Is it possible that you or a previous owner has removed some sound deadening material or insulation in the gas tank area? Maybe that grayish brown matting that's (supposed to be) in the area near the spare tire?

I dont see anything like a sound proof material, I see the spare tire, then the back of the seat I can also see the top of the gas tank.

yea i think your car was gutted because i have an 02 and i've never heard the gas sloshing around...you should NOT see the gas tank when you open the trunk and there should be plastic panels and sound materal behind the seats...

here's a simple fix...make sure you always have more than a 3/4's of a tank

Of the hundreds of s2k's I've driven, never once have I heard fuel sloshing around.
