Were you at high RPMs in the gear before you downshifted? From your post it sounds like you over-revved the engine. AP1 or AP2? Your engine is in "limp mode" and won't rev above 3000 RPM to prevent further damage to the engine. You'll need to pull the code with a code reader to find out the specific CEL. It's something that needs to be checked out. I'm sure more of the experts on here will be familiar with this specific issue.

Yep, that's a mechanical over-rev. Usually results in cracked retainers and bent valves in AP1's (2000-2003 years are AP1's). Pulling the head will allow you to assess the damage to the engine.

How about you man up and take responsibility for your actions. Why should someone else pay for you screwing your car up?

The dealership will pull the history on the ECU and see that you over revved it, voiding your warranty (if a Honda dealership, another one might not be smart enough to figure that out). Best chance is to get the CEL readout and see what it says. You might be lucky and not have caused any serious damage, but if you went into limp mode your chances of being lucky are minimal. And why did you buy the car with a CEL? Did the dealership not get that fixed? Do you know what the CEL that was on was for?

Yes they did fix it ... But Im not sure what the code was for =\ I ask them and they told me it means i need an oil change =/.... So just in case how much will it be to fix the valves and the retainers if that's the problem????
