Default idle

i have this minor problem where my idle will drop below 500 and almost to the point where the engine comes close to turning itself off, either when coming to a stop or when A/C is running on high and coming to a stop. then the idle will return to normal levels. Honda says it may be a valve issue. anyone have any ideas?

have u disconnect your battery before that started happening? if so, that just means u have to do the ecu relearn procedure.

i replaced the battery in April, and the problem still existed. so i took it in to Honda this last week and they did the idle relearn but it is still doing it and they can't find a problem short of tearing the engine down. they said it may be a valve that is getting stuck? is there anything that i can add to the fuel to help clean the valves?

This question seems to get asked a least once every 48 hours. Makes you wonder why honda couldnt just make a better idling system than iacv and what not. i mean its astronomical the number of times i've read posts like this. seems every s2k goes through this at some point and it never seems to get fixed all the way.

1. clean iacv
2. map whack
3. clean throttle body
4. idle relearn
5. pcv valve
6. injector cleaner
7. valve adjustment
8. throttle cable adjustment
9. vacuum leak check

This list goes on and on. Its almost like after so many years/miles the stock ecu just cant cope with idling the motor. Frustrating. I wanna go to the dealership and test drive a newer one just to feel it idle right again lol.

Do you have a lightweight flywheel? Mine does the same thing and thats what I always assumed it was.. Ofcourse my valvetrain is noisey as hell so you have me a bit worried

No i don't have a lightweight flywheel, i have left everything stock on it. not sure about your drivetrain though. i'm far from a techie when it comes to cars and engines.
