FWIW, when I bought my car a couple months back I was nervous about the ticking. Thought it might be a TCT so I took it into Honda. They said that the ticking I was hearing was valves opening and closing/injectors ticking and that it was normal for s2000 motors to sound this way. As long as it is nothing outrageous (listen on youtube for the TCT) then I wouldn't be too worried. They let me listen to another s2000 on the lot and assured me it was ok .

Personally I think it just comes with having a high revving motor that flows well. I was listening to e46 M3's and they had a similar tick to them.

turns out, i took it in to get an oil change and to check the ticking, they changed the oil and the ticking went away, not sure why exactly it had only been 3200 miles since last oil change , but if thats all it was, no complaints, just glad to know its ok

this right here makes me think that your TCT is bad, a fresh oil change usually helps out but the ticking will come back in about 1000 miles guaranteed

Any update on this? I have the same noise, doesn't do it until the engine starts to heat up. Do you reckon its because the wrong viscosity of oil was used? Got it booked in for an oil change 2moro/Thursday so we'll see what happens.

i can 99% guarantee you that his problem is hit TCT and a fresh oil change only masks the problem for a couple hundred miles
