Idle issues, cuts off.
Ensure the engine is in a good state of maintenance - good spark plugs, clean air filter, clean injectors, clean Idle Air Control system. This engine, when run during hot weather or run at highway speeds for a good duration, will sputter a bit when coming to an stop. If the engine is maintained well, it will sputter but shouldn't die. Important things to remember:
1. When it sputters, DO NOT help it by using the gas pedal. Let it sputter and even let it die. If it dies, fire it up and don't touch the gas till the idle is stable again. The restart is usually no problem if you don't mess with the throttle.
2. Don't push the clutch in too soon. Some people will push the clutch in when coming to a stop hundreds of feet before actually stopping. Under certain conditions, this only confuses the ECU and it has a hard time keeping idle speed. Learn to downshift and engine brake as you slow down, then leave the clutch up as long as you can before coming to a stop. Doesn't matter if it's 2nd gear or 1st gear (if you can do it without being too jerking). Leave the clutch alone till you see the rpm get to just below 1000 rpm. Usually, this will help the ECU keep a good idle once you've pushed the clutch in.
