Default Ignition Key Indicator

Howdy,

I've got an 03 Suzuka with almost 6K miles.

For the past week, almost every time I turn off the engine and pull the key out, the 'key in ignition' light continues to flash at me and of course the annoying beeping continues... even though my keys are in my hand. Then, of course, it won't allow me to lock the doors.

Hope this is not a precursor to future electrical problems...

Any thoughts? Thanks!

that happened to me as well when I first got my car, there is something about this in the manual, for the life of me I can't remember it right now.

Normally, when you turn the car off and take the key out the indicator flashes a couple of times and thats it. The beeping I dont know perhaps your headlights are still on, but then again thats a continuous sound it doesnt beep.

Locking the doors is a toss up for me, I guess wait for more opinions.

The key indicator light is according to teh manual, the immobolizer system indicator. If you dont have the properly coded key for the car (you got a spare) it will flash and not let you start up your car. If you are still using your stock key, sounds to me like it may have a fualt in the system. There is no actual troubleshooting part in the manual so I dont kow about the beeping. I would take it in to the dealership if you can.

Hope that helps.
