Immobilizer Bypass/Defeating

Does anyone have any information on defeating/bypassing the immobilizer? I'm working to eventually install an S2000 engine and transmission etc in to another make of vehicle, and I don

Jim,

Looked into this for an S2000 clubman conversion.,

Even if you bypass the main EFI relay the ECU wont work without a valid key code.

The immoboliser is built into the ECU and uses a simple pickup around the lock barrel. Suggest you get the immobiliser pickup connected somewhere a put a key beside it.

The dealers may try to tell you that the S2000 uses the red/black key system which requires a whole key/immobliser replacement kit. THis is incorrect. The S2000 allows for individual keys to be programmed in/out of the ECU memory.

Good luck

Do a search for info about the Spoon ECU. There was a thread recently about a problem relating to the immobilizer in the Spoon ECU. There was a discussion about defeating the immobilizer.

I think there is a library file on the board about programming new keys. I don't think it requires a new key, just access to the ECU.

You might also contact Hondata. While they don't offer an S2000 product specifically, they have experience with eliminating immobilizers on Honda ECUs. It would be a custom job and not cheap, but otherwise you might just have to buy a Mugen ECU ($1200+).

Is the engine in the Elise in front of the cockpit? Sure seems like an F20C would be difficult to put behind a cockpit.

That isn't an F20C, is it? I can see putting any FF Honda engine in there, but not a FR Honda engine.
