bringing this back from the dead..... new question though.
what do you do when you have adjusted the cable as much as you can already and it gets slack again? replace the cable? do a different adjustment? thanks

If it is adjusted to that extent, and you have significant slack, I'd say you stretched the cable too far (possibly over tightening?) and would need to replace it to get rid of the slack (probably pretty expensive to have done for you).

I will look into it further when I get home to see if there is a way to add a collar, nuts, etc.. or anyway to give more adjustment without replacing the cable. But I am not too hopeful.

how do you tell that the throttle is completely open at WOT?

do you remove the intake pipe and look through the throttle body?

While you're under the hood, have someone press the pedal to the floor. Notice where the cable attaches to the throttle body and moves when they press the pedal. While they're holding the pedal to the floor, see if you can move it any further with your hand. If so, you have too much slack in your throttle cable. If you can't move it any further, it's wide open.

1/4 inch of vertical play is recommended, but a little less won't kill you.
