Default install engine + trans thru the top!

hey, my subframe bolts were all broke or stripped, so i welded the subframe to the chassis.

i pulled the motor from the top today, went actually really easy, i think easier than dropping the subframe. what im wondering... i split the trans first under the car, and left it on the ground.

has anyone ever dropped in the engine + trans bolted together thru the top??? i dont really feel like laying under the car and hoisting the trans back into place!

thanks,

Matt

I think it would work if you can get the car high enough and the engine hoist high enough

I think it is possible but you'd bang the hell out of the trans tunnel and leave those areas exposed to the elements due to paint chips.

Just throwing this idea out there, If you install the engine and the trans together with the oil pan removed, it should clear.

You can do it but only with the crossmember removed or modified

Its a pain in the ass.. youd have to remove oil pan and valve cover... i just tried doing it to my 06 swap and failed just like the ASS2000 project.. because you welded your subframe.... which iwouldnt of done.. i would just install your engine without the tranny.. and the tranny after. to make life easier. i would hook Harness to the engine.. leaving only the plug ins for the ECU. this was my first time swapping and thats something i would have done differently. other than that. GOODLUCK if you decide to drop it with the tranny bolted. ive heard its possible but i literally needed 1/2'-1' clearance.. i could not get the angle i guess.. no matter how high i had the car front end up or down at a angle aswell.

i dropped my subframe and engine and installed the same. its the easiest way without NO ISSUES.. but thats just a personal opinion.
