intake manifold, BMW M3 style

Looking at the M3 engine bay shot's is interesting. It looks like they've arranged for a cold air feed from the grille to the plenum. I do wonder what could be done by ITB's, a plenum and a feed like this on the S2000. Or going even further, would a variable volume plenum (didn't the NSX use this IIRC?) help as well - keeping or improving low end torque, while aiming for the ITB length tuning effect at peak power.
One other thing strikes me. The M3 engine bay looks nice, but it's still too covered in plastic. I'd a big fan of the S2000's engine bay - even stock. It's traditional, businesslike, easy to work on.... no need for plastic covers everywhere.

I agree it would be hard to work on but it keeps the weight behind the front tires, i.e. balance. Why have a bunch of weight hanging over the nose. I also agree there is too much plastic on new cars. The older //M engines are much more business like.
Even my ten year old M5 has an intake that leads right to the front grille. It opens right next to the headlight. Maybe that is why CAI don't do much for the car.

Actually the last picture in this link shows it quite clearly. The air filter is in the big black box.
