Thumbs up Internal valve cover coating?

Took my valve cover to HPC for some paint lovin' and they said there is something they can put on the inside to make the temp stay lower.

This is the first I hear of this. Doesn't the oil barely even get up that high? I can't figure any way that could help enough to make any difference in temp. But hey they're pros so I said just do it.

Opinions? Anyone else have this done? It's $75 btw.

if i wanted to keep my oil cooler, i'd add an oil cooler or upgrade to a larger cooler.

what was this "something" that they put on the inside of your vavle cover to reduce temps? was it some sort of coating? you didnt ask them how it reduces temps?

I think there trying to make an extra buck. Ask to see facts and results on paper. I don't know what would help lowering temps by adding a coat of something to the valve cover.

if I remember right, the oem unit is baffled on top.

don't waste money on it, you can achieve more cooling by cleaning the grease and dirt off oil pan

If anything, I would suspect that coating the inside of the valve cover will increase heat retention, not reduce it. Heat is lost through conduction and convection and I can't imagine how a coating could increae either of these modes.

Please ask how this coating reduces heat and post it here so we can all learn something.

I presume when you say valve cover you are taking about the Rocker cover? if so it is likely they are talking about a ceramic coating on the inside of the cover to help reduce radiated heat and therefore reduce under bonnet (hood) temps.

No, I'm talking about the actual valve cover. This is HPC so I am sure they know what they are talking about. They do hot rods from all over the country.

I'm getting it back next week so I'll update the post when I get the info.

And how do you know this stuff won't come loose and clog up something in the lube system?

My thoughts exactly.
Can't wait to see a UOA of that oil.
