Issues with Excedy Hypercluch
davepk,
how much pressure does the ACT exert?
does anyone know if I can still use the OEM clutch with the exedy?
I get a little bit of slip with the exedy during city driving when the clutch heat up....very annoying

just to throw in for the exeddy,
I installed mine 2 months ago, and after 2500 miles, its still good. Very loud in low speeds, and the car wants to break loose everytime I change gears. BTW the car is not FI.

Nice one for the heads up, I was going to get this clutch real soon but I will look at other options now.
Big Thank you!!! & can I say this is one of the main reasons I come on s2ki.com, people helping other people.

Hello, I am from Foreign Auto Tech Inc a Master Distributor for the Exedy Racing Clutches. This site was bought to my attention by one of my wholesale customers. I can say that one of my employees installed a Hyper Clutch in his street driven daily Sylvia 240sx and with proper break-in the clutch engagement actually smoothened out. I am posting an excerpt of an e-mail from the director of Exedy USA to me regarding premature wear questions of a Hyper Clutch:
"As a matter of urgency after talking with engineers in Japan please advise the customer T5000 material however good it is....> it is a must that the clutch disc must be bedded in before severe punishment. In other words the driver must drive a minimum of 500km I think this is roughly 300 miles and have at least 800 -1000 actuations of this clutch. The material then as in clutch terminology will cure itself to great strengths & what happened in his old clutch I am sure wont happen again."
"For your reference Rockland standard gear is using 2 hyper clutches in 2 different Corvettes 5.7 L (Proto Type ) and have been racing with this for last 5 months (Grand Am ) so I am confident the material is of good quality as the guy has just pulled the transmission out to work on it & advises me that the clutch has just bedded in with no wear & was extremely surprised at this.....so come to think of this I tend to agree with engineers at EXEDY Japan."

Thank you for the post, fatinc. My concern isn't with the wear of the clutch, but the issue of warranty denial after 1200 miles and a proper break-in. I could care less if the clutch keeps failing, as long as I get a replacement under warranty if I followed all factory recommends on break-in and there was a failure.
