Issues with Vortech SC kit and Installation
I know several of the people who got in on the Vortech group buy have had problems with some of the parts and installation of the kits. I just had the installation started on mine yesterday. I think a thread of these issues might be helpful to future projects and maybe getting some of the issues solved by someone at Vortech. This might fit better in "under the hood". What do you think guys?

I am referring to the most recent group buys, and some new issues that have come up. Besides pretty much every type of thread has been done at least once, the search engine sucks, and there is always new information on any subject.
I had a bad black box, and Vortech wouldn't send out a new one until they rec'd the bad one. It was bad enough that I incurred lots of extra install costs for problem diagnosis + R&Ring the box, but I was really disappointed at Vortech's non-chalant attitude while my car sat around gathering dust in the shop.
Still, I'd do it all over again, as the car absolutely rips w/ the S/C. I had no idea how much faster it would be, and the added tq. (even at low revs) also makes it more pleasant in traffic.

This is the only problem I've had with mine. Vortech should not say to NOT use teflon tape on the threads but rather they should issue a caution about "how" to use it.

(Mine was not any of the GB's but this might save some people one big headache.)

I had the same problem as Chris. Defective black box came with unit, and Vortech wouldn't ship replacement until getting the crappy one back. In fact, my car is sitting in the shop now (took it in b4 Thanksgiving) waiting for the replacement from Vortech. I just hope it arrives and is driveable by the weekend. Needless to say, I am not happy with Vortech right now, and it seems like they may have skimped on the QC for the GB kits. That's just not right.
BTW: Thx to xviper's thread on the leak, I was able to point this out to my installer b4 he started. He looked at me like I was crazy. He says: "I would've disregarded that note anyway. I teflon ALL my threads." That's when I knew he knew his shizzle...

My black box has no problem but my a/f is too lean. Vortech keep pointing finger instead of having a positive attitule to solve the problem. They keep asking my shop to do diagnosis for them but the end result is i have to pay for it. In my mind, i would spend money on hardware R&D than diagnosis for an answer "i don't know and you are the only car have trouble" Full of BS!
Anyway i will not buy Vortech anymore. It costs me way too much money to put it in. Also, if you guys are not sure about your a/f, please check before you race your car!
Before i sent my 10:1 fmu back to vortech, the max line pressure was 75psi. When they recived it, they void the warranty and said somebody open it up before and some screws are very loose inside??? I would say somebody means me, my shop or UPS!!! They sent me back the same 10:1 and line pressure is 130psi and it help too little. A/F avg. 0.2 lower. So, rising line pressure will not solve the problem.
We did check the stock injectors duty cycle is about 80-85%. RC engineering said we can push it to 90-95% without damaging the stock injectors. The worst case will be the injectors will stay wide open which will affect deceleration (too rich).
I will install a VAFCII today and i will let you guys know the result.
I also order a NGK lower heat range spark plugs for lapping days. I will install oil catch can later.
Can we organize together and talk to supercharger online and Vortech? I hate being treat like a stupid keep calling and jumping around!!! I want to do something to against Vortech due to the way they treat the customer.
