jack stand locations

Sorry, this may be a dump question, but where am I supposed to use jack stands on my S2000?

The same place where you would put the stock jack to jack up the car. Look under the sides of the car between the wheels. You'll see a kind of notch about 4-5" long near the tires. The owners manual also tells you where the jack goes to raise the car. Obviously, a floor jack under the engine jacking point and under the rear diff will keep the side jacking points free for you to place the stands under. You'll need to drive the car up onto four pieces of 2 X 8's so your floor jack will be able to slide under the car.

My bad. I thought there would be another point that mechanics would use - somewhere on the wheel axel or something. Any ideas on how to protect the body of the S2000? Standard jack stands aren't exactly the right "shape" for this use. Thanks.
