I spent a LOT of time reading through that thread, and I only found 1 or 2 speculations that over filling might be beneficial.

Knowing there is a problem with oil pressure in the transmission on sharp corners is enough for me to want an extra measure of safety. 1.6 quarts of oil isn't much. (The counterperson at sales asked me if I was sure I only wanted 2 quarts.) I have a hard time believing that 0.2 quarts more oil is going to cause frothing. But knowing the risks (starvation vs. frothing), I'll go with the level a little higher.

I think I'm going to post a poll

What happened to good 'ole jack stands!

I guarantee you lifts at dealerships are not completely level.

Looking at Destiny's pic (above) with the Rhino ramps, it seems like theres a good bit of clearance.

1) Is that enough room to change the oil without jacking up the front of the car?

2) Since the drain valve is in the front of the engine, raising the rear shoudl get all the oil to drain out right?

I think the pic refers to changing the differential oil, not the motor oil. You can change the diff without jacking up the rear. At least to drain it.

Guys, I must be on Crazy pills or something, I haven't heard one person mention how difficult it is to reach the Diff fill bolt - How can you you torque it to spec if you can't fit your torque wrench in the space provided? I can get an open end but not a ratchet! I changed all my fluids this past weekend and that was the only part that frustrated me. I used the jackstand method on all four points and felt very safe though I was cringing a bit raising the rear end using the Diff!

Why not just jack it up or put the front on ramps, then start to jack up the rear of the car, and put a level somewhere along the side rocker where the pinch is - that should pretty much true it up, and will factor in the floor as well.

It is impossible to torque the diff fill bolt while the diff is in the car. BUT, you did torque the drain bolt, right? Remember what it felt like and use this "feel" for the fill bolt. You should be within 5-10 ft/lbs and this would be just fine. I've stopped using torque wrenches on a lot of these routine fluid changes. I've done them enough to just go by feel now.

I guess I am just being anal about the car, I was disgusted that I wasn't able to torque it to spec, I did however tighten it to where I thought it was suppose to be 33 ft'lb. if memory serves me correctly. I did torque everything else though! Ever since I got the Manual on disk I am spec happy with every project I do on the car! I think I need a beer!
Thanks!
Xviper, don't you crazy Canucks have a big Country Awards show up there in Calagary? A good friend of mine is some kind of Muckidy Muck with it, she always send me pics of her and country stars and I don't know who any of them are - if you are a country fan let me know!
