j's header with thermal wrap?
i was thinking about buyin a j's header. but im concerned about the heat it makes under the hood. would thermal wrap be a good decision? any bad side affects over long term use? i really dont wanna get a vented hood.

Wrapping a header on anything other than a race vehicle is not a good idea. The extra heat the wrap holds in can increase the chance of welds cracking. In addition, the wrap can retain moisture and cause corrosion (not as big of a concern for stainless headers, but still an issue).

Go get it Jet Hot coated inside and out. Cost ($165) you about the same as wrap but will give you better flow inside the tubes because it will coat the junctions.

I am having my J's header JET-HOT coated. If you do Sterling it is $165 +s&h. If you get the JETHOT 2000 coating (better for SC/nitrous) it is an extra $25.
Go to JETHOT's website and request a quote. When they send you an email back, they offer you 10% discount right there. I just used the 10% to get the JETHOT 2000 coating.

I've got a Comptech header, and that things makes the uth temps quite hot! Has anyone tried a header blanket or jackets? Neither actually fully wrap the header, and allows for air to circulate. Only thing, it hides the BLING factor of the header.
These are from Thermotec:
The Header Manifold Blanket provides excellent heat-retention for exhaust headers and manifolds.
This flexible heat shield simply clips into place on the upper portion of the header. The fabric side of the material should be facing the heat source, and the aluminized side facing away - offering protection from abrasion and harmful liquid spills.
The Header Manifold Blanket is available in two sizes:
(2) 20" by 24" blankets for V6 & V8 applications, and (1) 36" by 40" blanket for straight 6 & 4 cylinder engines.
Header Manifold Blanket:
V6-V8 Header Manifold Blanket Kit(2 pcs) - $89.99
4 cyl & I-6 Header Manifold Blanket (1 pcs) - $79.99
OR
header jacket
The new quick-wrap high-velocity Exhaust Jackets are an innovative way to insulate and block radiant heat.
The jackets cover the tubes vertically allowing for a consistent fit. The fit allows the exhaust system to expand as it comes up to operating temperatures without restrictions and provides air space for added insulation.
This product uses Thermal Conduction Technology (TCT), developed by Thermo-Tec, and can be applied with the headers in the vehicle.
Exhaust Jacket Kits:
4-6 Cylinder Jacket Kit - $69.99
8 Cylinder Jacket Kit - $99.99

No idea if they can just do the inside. Gut tells me it is possible.
