I absolutely love that that worked. Outstanding!

So what's it like to drive an F20C strapped to a shoe?

Thanks! Actually the engine isn't THAT much different what I had before. It was BMW m10, design from 60's, but it was high tuned, dry sumped, slide throttle, full race engine. It revved past 8k and produced about 210hp. F20C in stock form feels much same in the area used on track. Maximum power is some more but you really have to make it scream to get the benefit. The difference is in comfortability. It's really nice to just push the button to start, have actual idle, move in the pit with 1000 rpms without sliding clutch and so on. The reason for my swap was targeting reliability and gain more hours on track than in garage in future. Also, it doesn't leak oil, which is great!

Most JDM 'de-restrictors' simply convert the kph to mph, so you still have a limiter, but it only kicks in at 180mph. (And let's be honest, that going to be enough for most of us!)

I have a JDM S2000, and a NC30 and they both used to top out at 112mph (180kph) till I had them converted.

That might be true but I find it a bit strange. It would mean that they need to convert the vss frequency by ratio of km to miles, other words divide by 1.6, which isn't the most simple way. Ecu only reads frequency. It has no consept of actual speed units.

^If the conversion affects the dash display (as the Yellow Jacket does), then converting from km to miles at least provides meaningful units, which is important for a street-driven car (esp. in the US and UK!).

Hello guys, one last update to this topic! The division by 2 solution was tried on track. I got to 196kph GPS speed, and that's about it with the brick-like aerodynamics of BMW 2002. Highest top speeds were reached with 5th gear which topped rpms just at the braking point of the main straight. By shifting to 6th some speed was lost during change and then it just didn't accelerate anymore.
Also didn't break anything so it was a pretty good weekend . The gearbox synchros don't work that great. I have now tried MT-90 and MT-90/MTL -mix. Next I'm trying to get the Honda gear oil from somewhere but I don't think it'll make a difference. Gotta start saving for a dog box, I guess.
