Default jump start needed after one week of not driving?

this is the second time that this has happened to me... i leave my car sitting for about 7 days and the battery is not strong enough to start the car. i recently put in a new battery. i do have an aftermarket amp and sub system...

was wondering if it is possible to check to see if there is anything draining the battery while it sits...

thoughts & suggestions would be greatly appreciated... thanks

could your amp still be running? was your remote turn on lead connected to an accessory source or running constant? your car should not be dying after 7 days.

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery and connect an amp meter between the battery post and the disconnected cable. There should be very little current flow with the key off. If you think there is too much flow, disconnect the amp and sub and see if the current drops. If that doesn't correct it, pull fuses one at a time and check the current flow. If you pull a fuse and it drops, then you need to find what is running on that circuit.

I found a power anntenna on my last car that wasn't turning off when it was retracted. I rewired it so the power was off with the key off and it fixed the problem. (Just had to make sure the anntenna was completely down before turning off the ignition.)

I'd bet that your amp is running. As stated above your remote turn-on might be connected to something that leaves it on.

I have a 2-3 y/o battery and leave my car sitting for 10+ days all the time and never have a problem. I also have an amp for my stereo.

I have an '03 and since my move I haven't had the need (or the free time) to drive my S so it sits parked for 2 to 3 weeks at a time -- yet it fires up no problem.

Aside from checking your sound system - have you look into checking whether the battery is healthy? Sh!t happens and you may get a bad battery.

You have something drawing power. My car sits far longer than that between starts, and the car starts up just fine.

One way to check what is happening is to measure the current draw at the battery terminals. Then start pulling fuses. At least you'll narrow it down to which circuit has the problem.
