Default just to confirm

so i've been reading up on the FAQs, oil journals, and different posts here on s2ki.

i'm about to do a diy diff oil change, and i've been hearing Amsoil, Mobil1, and LE1605.... but i'm confused as to which one i should use and where i can get amsoil or m1, i know i can get LE1605 from HTG but dont know where to find the other two. also i'm kinda leaning towards LE because i live in california and i dont have to deal with freezing cold weather.

TIA for you guys' help, sorry if its a noob question, please don't flame me T.T

I'm running LE in Connecticut and nothing has blown in the cold I would recommend it for you too.

Mobil 1 can be found at any parts store like Advance Auto.. Amsoil you will probably have to order online, but I couldn't direct you to the best place.

I use BelRay Gear Saver. Comes in SAE90 GL-5 as recommended in the owner's manual and is available at most motorcycle dealerships. I've used it for a couple of years and a lot of autocross without any issues.

(didnt want to start a new thread)

but i was searching more and read this thread

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry3578749

where they mention that you should flush the diff before changing to a different type of fluid (oem->LE1605) can someone confirm that this is appropriate to do and its ok to use 10w weight oil... and um... by this they mean just regular oil right? like mobil1 10w-30????

also, the fluid volume in the differential is just 1 quart right?

aaaahhhhhhh sorry for the million questions but i appreciate everyone's input and help

I believe the LE607, and it's replacement (I think) LE1605 are great products.

I have been using Mobil1 75W90 synthetic gear oil in the dif for the last 70k miles.

I have drained it twice, and it has always come out like brand new. Literally. Nothing on the magnet and the stuff is light clear gold in color.

Words cant describe how much abuse my car takes between clutch dumps, drifting, autoX, and track. I've got 96k on my original dif.

Dif hold little less that 1 quart.

decided to be like billman and use m1 75w90, i was able to successfully perform the drain and refill of both transmission and differential, and i just want to take a moment to thank everyone here in the UTH section for their advice!
