Just picked up an 04 S2000, need your help
Hey guys, I finally purchased 04 S2000 after long and extensive search and countless miles of driving long distance to see differnt cars and getting disappointed car after car. I was picky, but I didn't expect it to be this difficult.
I am facing some issues. I like to keep my cars in best condition, best shape possible, the first thing I want to do is change all the fluid in the car.
I only use Royal purple in all of my cars, what grade of Royal Purple oil do I need to use for 04 AP2?
Engine oil- 10w 30
Tranny oil- ?
Differential oil-?
What else?
Car have less than 50k miles.

hey, I just got some Royal Purple for my S2k, too. Also an '04
I got 75w90 for the transmission and GL-5 for the diff. Check out the "under the hood" forum for a listing of fluid amounts/types

Congratulations!
For the fluids, you need 5 quarts of engine oil, 2 quarts of transmission fluid, and 1 quart of diff fluid.
In addition to the filters, I would replace the cabin filter, replace the air filter, and lube all the convertible top rubber pieces with shin etsu grease.

RP is fine for the engine, but personally I wouldn't let it get anywhere near my tranny or diff. I would use Honda MTF for the tranny. The new MTF (white cap, green label) is proving to be a great fluid. For the Diff I would use Lubrication Engineers 607 Almasol SAE90 (LE-607) unless you live in a very cold climate. Both of those are available at hardtopguy.com.

I just bought it, haven't put it in yet. I may have misspoke on the exact oil type I got for the transmission...I'll check it out before doing anything. Maybe it was the 75w90 GL-5 for the diff. After looking at the site I bought it frmo, I think I got their Synchromax for teh tranny.
edit: Just opened the box to confirm I got the Synchromax Royal Purple for the transmission and 75w90 for the Diff.

If I were you, I would:
Change the oil/ filter- I use Mobil1 10W30
Change the tranny fluid- Honda MTF for me as well
Change the diff fluid- I agree on the LE 607 throught HTG.
Change the clutch and brake fluid while you are at it. Same stuff works in both.
Cabin fliter change is a good idea.
Air filter change might be a good idea as well.
