Default K&N Air Filter for S2000

What is the consensus from you guys on these? I'm thinking there will be not much difference from stock in terms of either power or filtration but that it may perform better later in the service intervals. Also, being reuseable it will work out cheaper over a number of services.

Can anyone here quantify the pro's and con's of using this filter?

Reuseability is always a plus.
As for performance, there is a trade off. With high flow comes more dirt that doesn't get filtered and vica versa. Which do you want or care about?

The K & N "pr" infers that their filters provide "maximum filtration" but I'm not so sure.

I'll own up, I've fitted a K&N (no noticeable difference from driving the car) and I'm now worrying about it wearing out my engine quicker than a stock filter. Do you think I should junk it and go back to an OEM paper element at the next service before its done too much damage?

ther reusable thing is a good thing, i had one on my mustang and miata. power gains are so minimal in my opinion, especially on this car as i am also doubtful that an air intake would do much either.

i would consider that the air filter is about 42+$$ for the K&N and then the cleaner kit is $10-15. a new honda element is how much????

i like the car just the way it is and the folks i have tracked with have air intakes and headers and tell me off the record that performance increases are minimal and only at certain rpms....so i really don't see the value other than to know you have potentially some hp gain.

far as dirt goes i looked at my intake on the miata and the mustang after a year and found no dirt, just like with the stock filters.

i also just don't want any more noise under acceleration, the honda sounds just right to me.

I've used K&N filters for all of my cars for the past ten years without any problems.

As long as you service them as needed, you're fine.

The K&N drop-in filter used with the oem airbox, will not create any more noise than oem.

Thanks for all your replies Guys, I think I will keep the K&N and clean it regularly like Xviper suggests. I don't use the car in a very dusty environment normally, although I'm taking it on a road trip through Spain soon and I have heard it can get quite dusty out there. I may have to clean and oil the filter when I get back!
