Default Keeping Engine Block Clean after Filter Changes..

Does anyone do anything to keep their engine block clean after oil filter changes ?. When you pull the filter on this car it dribbles oil all the way down the block and pan. I just put on a new baffled oil pan and I'd like to keep it looking clean.

I thought of drilling a hole in the oil filter and letting it drain prior to removal, I only do 1-2 oil changes a year so it isn't a large amount of work. The only other thing I can think of is to de-grease the block after each oil change. Anyone do anything different with their car ?

Punching a hole and/or wrapping a newspaper bag around the filter when removing can help keep things clean.

I attached a sheet of this product to the underside of the filter, no mess and easy clean-up too.

I think I'll try a combo of both things and see how it works on the next oil change, those absorbent mats look like a great idea, they should absorb any leftover leakage that comes out of the filter quite easily. Thanks for the quick replies.

I used a sheet of aluminum foil and just kind of formed it up into place against the block. Very simple and worked great.
