Default Kia 4.77 final drive

Hey guys. I did a search on the forum about the 4.77 final drive. I didn't find much solid information on doing an install. I was wondering exactly what goes into the install. I've done one or two final drive installs, problem is they were on 240's. I know some people have said to let a professional installer do the job because of shimming, and backlash measurement. I was hoping some one on here might have done this themselves and could give me an idea on wether it is cost effective to do it myself. Or should I just shell out the finds and have someone else do it. Any info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

The cost of my Kia 4.77's and to have them installed by someone that could do it well was $550.00 for everything. That price was for the gears new and I handed them the center section and said install please and I put it back into the car.
Good luck

A local drag race guy who has a shop near me did the install. Its not rocket science and any place that does drive trains should be fine. I am on the east coast.
Labor cost was $300.00.
