Default KNN FIPK intake question

hi guy, as you may know my dad bought a 2005 s2000 and i was able to talk him into getting him a knn intake. i figured it was going to be a easy install. i looked on the knn installation page and it started talking about air sensors and other stuff... some cars have it and other don't.. also may need to drill a 5/8" hole in the knn tube. what needs to happen with the metal thing with vacuum lines?? thanks.

thanks alot

also the inlet on the inside radius is steel, i mean the lines going to the intake pipe.

plus i did not get a 1/2" rubber hose to run from the valve cover to intake, so can i use any type of line or does it need to be a reinforced rubber hose?

You can use any type of rubber vacuum hose. The K&N tube you have there has all the connections needed for the install. Connect the metal vac tube on the left (looks like you may need to connect it using a piece of hose to slide over it and the metal tube). Connect the air pump hose on the right. Zip tie the vacuum solenoid and lines that you remove from the stock airbox to the center support that runs between the shock towers. You're done.

No drilling is needed for a pre 06 S2000.

Put the grommet on the intake tube before the filter.

OP, theres suppose to be an open hole. the grommet is for the filer and attaches to the end of the tube. On another note, any idea where to buy replacement hoses for the k/n kit? sorry, not trying to hijack thread.

I just buy generic radiator hoses at an auto parts store. Nothing special going on with the K&N kit

I know the K&N website has info on replacement parts. Either on the site, or a pdf you can download. That will tell you the diameters of the hoses you need if you won't want to measure, then just get em from any store and save some $$.
