Its my understanding the AP1 block is no longer available from Honda, but the AP2 is. Billman reported this recently.
I bet the engine build, all told, cost more than the new block from Honda would have. I would be really pissed at whoever told you blocks are no longer available, and a little at myself for not checking personally. Live and learn. Thanks fpr sharing your expierence with community, so we can all benefit from this info. Your post was remarkably free of animosity. I would not be able to have the same restraint. No one told me the blocks were not longer available, but the dealers are not selling 2005 short blocks. I see from another post that later years can still purchase a short block. The bare blocks and heads can still be purchased but still need to build them up. |

I did not realize there was a difference between 06-07 vs 08-09 ap2 motors? What is different?
|
There is no difference. Whoever stated that is severely mis-informed. ALL 06+ engines are identical in every which way.
|
06-09 fully built short blocks are available.
BEING THAT the crank trigger wheel is the ONLY difference between the 04-05 engines and 06-09 engines, it is acceptable to say that 04-05 built short blocks are available with a simple trigger wheel swap. |

It's possible but not advised, at 8400 rpm the f22 pistons have the same speed as f20 at 9,000. So you're pumping the same amount of air, because the bores haven't changed, only the stroke. In fact doing a little math at 9,000 rpm on the f22 crank and pistons, would be the equivalent of 9,670'ish rpm on an f20. The head stopped making power about 800 rpm ago.
|
I know stock f20cs revving to 9.6k only thing they have is upgraded valves and springs...
|
Anything over 8400 is really pushing it.
Lower VTEC to 5400, and you have a nice usable 3k rpm powerband just like the Ap1. |
Hmm, what's the going rate?
