Default Latch rattle?

I've got an '01 with 38000 miles... I bought it this summer so I've primarily had the top down so I may have missed this noise all along, but now that it has gotten cold and the top is up, I can't stand it. Whenever I hit a bump that causes the chassis to flex a little bit (might have nothing to do with flex), the driver's side roof latch makes a "clackity clack." Really annoying. Is there anything to tighten on them? Should I get a new latch? Is this a common problem? It could just be a product of it getting cold and things shrinking I suppose, but I doubt Honda would have sold a car that made this noise from the factory so I'm guessing something has worn out.

Go to hardtopguy.com and buy the hardtop strikers. They hold the top against the windshield tighter resulting in less rattle and wind noise. ~$50 bucks.

Well, I have another issue.

I had my strikers replaced under warranty w/ the TSB. That was a few years ago. Now the car is out of waranty and I have the freakin' wind noise again.

So now what, do I get new hard top strikers or just live w/ it?

I recently had a rattle on my passenger side latch and the button bound when pushing it in once in a while. What I found was that one screw was missing and one was loose. If you open the latch and look behind it you will find the two small screws. I happened to have a screw and washer that fit. Once the two screws were tight the rattle went away and the button pushed in normally, no binding. I also found the two screws slightly loose on the driver side latch. These are small screws, so don't over tighten them.

I don't know if this is your problem, good luck.

I had that noise from the side latch too. I had it fixed by inserting a 1/2 inch square black felt tape or double side tape in the cavity where the alignment pin sets. Open your top and look at the striker, you should see a square cavity, just place the tape inside that cavity and it filled up the gap. No more metal to metal noise. Don't have to replace the Striker. I had over 40k miles and never had to replace the Striker. with the tape it never wear. I try grease, it won't work.
Good luck!!!
I know that noise drives me crazy.

Try putting some good grease on the seal.
