Default Leak down test pressure

Hi guys,
i've done a leak down test with a cheap tester and when set to 0, the gauge only shows about 25 psi, wich seems to be common with these knockoffs.
Are these 25 psi enough for showing leaks?

you need the air pressure to 100psi, and then see what % loss you have.

The air compressor was set to 100 psi but i wasn't able to get more than 25 on the tester.

Tester defective or regulator problem, does it have a regulator?

Yes it does, but the issue is when zeroing the gauge, you won't get past 20 psi :

I'll return it so no big deal, just a waste of time...

I did this test as after a cylinder head refresh with ap2 intake retainer upgrade(thanks to you Billman), new valves, guides, seals, i've lost compression.

Comp test (performed the same way both times) was at more or less 245 psi per cylinder before and now 205 after the job and the loss is equal in all cylinders.
Oil consumption has not clearly increased, engine feels healthy, no smoke and coolant is clean, so i'm a bit confused.

Was that a Harbor Freight leak down tester? I bought one from there a couple weeks ago and it barely worked. Took it back the same day. Ordered an OTC leak down tester from Amazon and it works great.

I guess it is the same as Harbor freight but from Amazon, and i think about the OTC tester too.
