2 quarts for 3000 miles some thing is wrong.

Depending on his car's mileage, actually, this is not uncommon.

19,000 miles and the car always ate oil. Especially after I switched to Mobil-1. I usually top off the oil when the car is cold, so it may be burning off some excess.

The cloud trail was made only while I was in VTEC - no other time.

My car has always had excessive (IMO) oil consumption which can get up to 300-500ml per fill up on occasion, but that's not really common. It usually consumes 200ml per tankful. I'm guessing the street driving is rather hard on the car.

I've seen the same symptoms. It only shows up at night, and usually when it's cool & damp. I think it's as much related to the weather as anything, because in other conditions you just can't see it. I'm guessing there were headlights behind you which highlighted the cloud, and that's the only reason you were able to see it.

I'll stop short of saying that it's normal, but I will say that it's not uncommon. As the others have said, it's probably not oil, but it's probably unburned fuel and heated exhaust gasses, as the stock ECU runs rich in VTEC.

Sounds like exactly what I saw. Thanks.

I have seen many S2000's leave a huge trail of smoke on long right hand sweepers at the track! Oil leaving the PCV valve and going right into the intake manifold !

rworner, i have the same symptoms with my car too. It only is visible when a car is behind you, and I also add about 2 qts every 3k or so. I also know both my o2 sensors are bad and the cat as well... so Im replacing all that stuff and am gonna make my next analysis from that point. Im closely approaching 100k miles so Im going to adjust my valves and have a leak down and compression test done in the very near future, especially if the smoke continues. Would that be a logical move to make next everyone?

I have about 6000 miles on mine and have never lost a drop of oil. Ever. Although, when it was tuned on the dyno, you could see just a slight puff of black/grey smoke(around 5500 RPM). This is due to the AFR and transition between cam lobes in VTEC I believe.

There is a known issue of the oil getting sucked into the PCV system and producing smoke trails. That usually only happens during (IIRC) hard lefthand corners. Might be hard righthand corners, I can't remember for sure. Might this have been the cause?

This is what I was mentioning in an earlier post, If you think about the location of the PCV valve it is on the drivers side of the valve cover so, during hard sustained righthand turns (sweepers) oil is pushed to the drivers side of the valve cover and is picked up from the PCV valve and sent directly into the intake manifold creating a nice big plume of smoke!
I have witnessed this firsthand but am not sure if this is what you experienced -
