Don't you hate when you have things 99% assembled and then life throws you a curveball?
I am finishing up my F24C build and went to put the intake manifold on yesterday, when this piece fell out of it or off of it(which is weird, because when I take something apart, I put every single bolt for a specific piece in a labeled ziplock bag and would not have just "laid" this on the intake manifold). So, it is possible it fell out if it, from somewhere when I picked it up, but im not really sure.

Can someone identify this for me?

I put it next to a quarter to see its size:

what the funk is it!? help a brevvva out!

not from intake box, have not run that on the car in about 3 years.

orrrr it kinda reminds me of the dowels that are in b-series motors. The ones that line up the head with the block.....pray to god its not one of those. My buddies uncle "forgot" to put one in and the head shifted slighty during the test drive and one of the nuts on a lifter or rocker i forget which, snapped off and made it bend a valve!

valve cover, head/engine were taken apart at a separate location and this would not have been associated with an internal part of the engine.

it does show some signs of being "heated" however, there is no specific pattern to it?
There is some blue-ish signs of heat being applied to it in one spot.

It may be the spacer that the black plastic cover on the intake manifold uses.

May be the fuel rail cover spacer that goes inside the rubber grommet. They're prone to falling out.

yes those should be them, easy to install and shouldn't slow you down much, being in the area of the intake manifold makes sense too.

On a side note, anytime you see that discolored gold coating, it's usually a spacer for a mount of some sort. That coating isn't very strong, so it being in the engine is unlikely.
