Smile License plate cap

I'd like to put license plate caps on my front bumper. I was able to put one of them on no problem, but the other one won't go on because the part that it clips into is "loose". I am not sure if there are any screws which hold the "bracket" to the bumper--I can't see nor can I reach behind it.

Any thoughts?

you could take the front bumper off or just use double sided tape.

Taking the front bumper off seems like more trouble than it is worth. If I did take the bumper off, would I find a lose(missing) screw which holds the bracket to the bumper? Double sided tape maybe an option.

It's not a screw. On the back side of the bumper, there are plastic pins that protrude out. The back frame that the licence bracket screws into (the same thing your plugs push into) has little metal clips that squeeze onto these pins. I'm guessing that one of the pins has broken or one of the clips has become dislodged.

Although this is not the piece in question, it will give you some idea of how it's held on. That metal clip you see in the picture is part of the bracket I spoke.

^ Thanks for the info! I am contemplating having the holes shaved/filled-in.

Don't push too hard or the screw holes will go inside your bumoer and then you won't have a choice. I threaded a screw half way and used pliers to hold the crew holes in place and popped the caps back in. It's more work than it should be.
