Default light flywheel?

I am replacing my clutch and am thinking about going with ACT street performance clutch with ACT light flywheel. My 2006 ap2 is all stock, and am not sure if adding a lighter flywheel will help or hurt my stock car. Also I am not sure whether to get the street lite which is 11.2 lbs or the prolite which is 8.1 lbs, I was told that getting the prolite will be too light for the car? But I find it weird how 3 more lbs added is not too light?
Engineers made the ap2 come with a 22lb flywheel and ap1 come with 14lb, so they were trying to give the ap2 more torque? anyone know why They changed ap2 to 22lbs?

another question I have is, because I would use a lighter fly wheel does that mean when my car redlines 1st gear im going 30 mph, and with a stock s2000 redline 1st gear you are going 40 mph? (not actual numbers, made up for example) Thanks

I'd say go with the 11.2 version or an AP1 flywheel. I put an AP1 in my car and it's noticeable, but shocking. It also helps they are cheap to come across. Some will say there is no such thing as too light, but around the 6-8 lb mark they require a bit more clutch modulation as the revs do fall quickly. I think the heavier flywheel was to combat the all too common miss shift. A lighter flywheel will have no other effects other than allowing the engine revs to rise and fall faster. Check out the below video for an example of an 8lb flywheel.

The lighter the flywheel the faster the engine will rev however you may get a rattle when decelerating with anything lighter than the ap1 flywheel.

I have installed dozens of 8 lb flywheels with zero rattle or issues.

The 22 lb oem ap2 flywheel has nothing to do at all with torque.

The reason the flywheel weight was added is because the ap2 engine has a shorter powerband (6k-8k) and the engine will fall out of VTEC in first gear without the weight. This produces a very undesirable affect for potential buyers of the car when new. You will find this out when you first install the flywheel.

HOWEVER...if you can master the 1-2 shift, a light flywheel in an ap2 is a fantastic upgrade.

When I put the 8 lb ACT fly in my AP1 I was surprised how easy it was to drive, considering a fair bit of negative opinions about them on the forums. After my very first shift I never had to think about it again. I have not stalled the car since the swap, and it seems just as easy to launch as the oem fly. No complaints here. It will be a bigger change on an ap2. I think the biggest complaints come from people who install aftermarket clutches with higher clamping force p.p's with lighter flys. With an oem clutch the change to a lighter fly is fine.

The guy at ACT told me I wouldn't want to put an 8lb flywheel in my car, just go for the 11.2.... Claimed the 8lb flywheel could cause problems, and only ppl that drift use it

I think he was referring to it being harder to modulate with a higher clamping force aftermarket clutch, if you stick with the oem clutch parts it won't have any issues.
