Default Limp Mode?

Alright, I have a very strange issue that has caused my S to enter limp mode, or not start at all.

If both the TDC sensors on the back of the valve cover are connected the the car with crank and crank but not start. If one of them is disconnected It will start but not rev past 3000 RPM's. Now I replaced one of the sensors because I thought it was broken but still the same problem persists. I have no idea what to do or whats causing it, does anyone have any ideas?

Before you kill yourself, try opening the garage door.

What do you have done to the car?
A sensor could be bad.
Are you throwing a CEL?
If you re-set the ECU does the problem come back? - don't reset if you're throwing a code.
Did you replace the suspected bad sensor?
What happened leading up to the problem?

Alright:
I have a fully forged stroker motor, it overheated and blew a head gasket.
I replaced the sensor that i thought was bad but the problem came back.
I disconnected the battery and drained the terminals, and it will still throw a check engine light.

there is a more detailed description of my issues leading up to my 2 problems on my other post (link below)

I have figured out that the error code is p1362, and that code is for the cam possitioning sensors on the top of the Valve cover, my problem is that I have replaced both of these sensors, and it is still in limp mode. Now, with these sensors, if they are both connected the car will not start, and if they are both disconnected it will not start, but if I plug either one of them in the car starts right up but wont rev past 3500 RPM's (limp mode). I have checked timing and it looks perfect to me, and im not sure what else to do? Any ideas???

I had the same problem on my car. Although I thought the cams
were line up properly they were both one tooth off. Pull your valve cover
and make sure the lines of your cam gears are EXACTLY level
with the head. It may seem correct at first glance but since the
engines tilted take a really close look. I bet you thats it.

unlimitedpower was correct, at first glance, with both cams being a tooth off, they look perfectly lined up. I pulled the valve cover and re-checked this and both my intake and exhaust cams were off a single tooth. Thanks to everyone for your help, my S is now running and revving like a champ!

So I have a 2000 ap1 no heavy mods and last night my car went into limp mode while driving at 75mph. I pulled off the road and let the car idle for a min, and eventually shut off. Started right back up and I finally made it to my destination. I found this fourm whie doing some research, and all this info def help me start the process of eliminations. I had a crank sensor.code, various misfire codes and a horrible ticking sound I thought was comming from my tensioner. Upon inspection of valve train after taking valve cover off the cams were lined up correct, valve clearance was proper, and it ended up being my chain tensioner. So I replaced it reset the ecu and limp mode went away. So I hope in the future if anyone has this issue this will help them also.
