Default Little low on oil

Hey guys, well for the past few oil changes I have been using Amsoil synthetic. Now I order this online because I dont know where else to get it.

I just changed my oil yesterday and put every last drop of oil I had (thought it would be 5 qts exact) and I am only like 3 or 2 X's above low. (cooled engine)

I just ordered some more oil today and what not, but of course it will take a little while to come here. The S is my only car.

Is it okay as long as it DOESN'T go below the L on the dip stick? and should I avoid the upper ranges of the RPM's till I get my new oil in? TIA guys

I believe the magic number is 5.2 qts. Also, as long as you're oil level is a few X's above low you'll be fine. If you have low oil, the ECU will retard timing and basically go into limp mode. This happened to me on the way to the Dragon. I stopped to go to the head and the rest of the group was going about 85-90mph. I had to to 120mph for about 10 miles to catch up. My car burned oil during that time, and once I caught up I noticed my car wouldn't accelerate very much or hit VTEC. The ECU does this to prevent you from blowing up your engine. Once we stopped, I added a quart of oil and my car was fine.

should check the oil again after running the car for a few minutes. If it's below L, just keep it at low rpms.

^ yeah it was completely full before I let it run a few min, after that of course it went down to just about 2 x's above L. I already ordered more so it should be coming any day. So I should just keep it low RPMs?

Or instead of waiting for the precious Amsoil fluid to arrive in the mail, you can drop by your local auto parts store and pick up *gulp*, a bottle of Mobil 1. I'm positive that a few drops of Mobil 1 isn't going to taint the God Like Amsoil.

I know, I was just recommended this and have not honestly tried anything else.

Just an FYI, I use Mobile 1 with zero problems, both in my boat and my car. Amsoil is good stuff but IMO not worth the ordering and waiting, but thats just me.
