Gentleman, the Stereo (And the Power plug between the seats) in my S2000 does not work properly. That´s bad because i am a lousy singer and have this funny german accent.
I am looking for Relay Nr. 1, the "Accesory power socket Relay" . The radio and the power socket get switched "ON" with this relay when you turn the ingition key. My question is, is my assumption correct that i have to remove the gauge cluster to get acces to this relay?
It´s German, but you get the Picture: (Pun intended)
I found this in my electrical maintenance book for the 2008/9 cars. I know yours is earlier 2002 so I am not sure how much, if any, information you can glean from this. I added a circuit to the 12V plug between the seat so I could power blue LED wheel well lights that are always on (but you can see only at night) That is under the driver side dash on the left wall. I can't believe you would have to remove the dash to get at a relay.
On US cars the accessory power socket relay, which cuts off all accessories including the round power socket on the console while the car is being started, is under the dash on the left side of the car. See Para 187 of the S2000 Wiring Manual

It is also dead with the car just sitting there and the key not rotated to any position in the lock.
Thank you gentleman. So, it´s "Remove the dash" time.
The stereo and the power plug in my car start randomly to work. Sometimes they start in the moment when i turn the key (As it should be), sometimes they need up to 10 Minutes after the start of a drive to come alive. Both start to work totaly synchronized. When they start to work, they both dont have any problems with power supply and work flalwless until i stop the car and pull the key.
They both get power supply switched "ON" from the same relay and the symptoms are the same as a bad relay. E.g. the famous Honda Main / Fuel pump relay.

The worst is getting to the contortionist position upside down under the dash and realizing you need another tool and no one is around to fetch it for you.
