Long term planning
my car has around 120kms. i put 15k on myself last summer. this year i plan to do more driving and expecting to hit around 150-160k.
to get straight to the point i know the engine is going to lose power over the years, and i plan to keep this car for a while. at least hit 300k.
would an engine swap be better or would a complete rebuild accomplish the same thing?

Well an interesting bit of info. With 89K miles, 140k km I'm putting down 207hp.
If you want to keep the car forever I would look to buying a second motor for cheap. Rebuilding it or storing it in the mean time and than do a swap.

Loss of power over time has more to do with ring and cylinder wear than distance travelled. (valve wear & damage also contributes, but that's a different issue). Highway miles (or kilometers in your case) are much easier on an engine than city or track miles. Short drives cause more wear per mile than long trips. The key to a long-lasting engine is to minimize wear by properly maintaining it and prevent any major issues that will cause significant or catastrophic wear.
IMO, you should consider installing a bypass filter. This will filter out larger particulates that would otherwise cause wear. It also allows you to extend your OCI (oil change interval) significantly. I have had a bypass filter on my '03 since it was almost new. My last OCI was 35,000 miles, and I plan on going 40,000 miles (64,000 kms) on this OCI.
At over 175,000 miles (282,000 kms) my car still runs like new and doesn't burn any more oil than it did when it was new. Admittedly, I drive mostly highway miles. This plan makes more sense to me than either resleeving or replacing my engine.
