Default looking for signal to aftermarket spedo

using an f20c and ap2 trans in super 7. i used to use a magnet and trigger pickup for my speed sensor but its not terribly accurate. was wondering if anyone has hooked an autometer gauge to the spedo output off the trans?

Looking at sensor, middle pin is signal, right 12v, left ground.
follow Autometer instruction pamphlet for Using 3-wire OEM sensor with gauge and calibrate.
run the middle pin to the "signal" pin on the gauge, and run power & ground to both the gauge and the gearbox VSS separately.
Cheers.
