Default Looking for someone with P2138 code on 06+ to try my fix and report back

Hey guys,

I recently had issues with rough driving at low rpms, especially on cold starts. The car finally threw a P2138 (accelerator position sensor). While waiting for the part to arrive via UPS, i decided to poke around on the broken one. I manually retracted the cable wheel a few time, the last of which I let it snap back at full speed. I did not drive the car right away. The next morning, the issue was gone. It has since driven perfect for several hundred miles this week. I'm hoping someone with the same code could give this a try to see if it's a valid fix before I try to document it on s2ki.

Nobody is having this issue right now? I can't be the only one.

What do you want us to say, in your original post it sounded like the issue was resolved.

I want someone else to try the same thing to confirm if it's an actual fix before I write it up as an actual fix.

Try the above and clear the code. You can do an ECU reset as well, but I did not. Please report back if it was successful.

I tried the same thing. the cel popped back up once more but i have been good since then. seems like the sensor itself is going bad. ill leave it for now but if it pops up again i will just go ahead and replace the sensor.

Thanks for giving it a shot.

(five years later) Didn't work for me. I previously replaced the sensor and that worked, but the problem is now back. Thanks for posting though.

Never saw this post before. My guess is the snapping back helped knock free some build up on the potentiometer. But its unlikely to be a long term fix.

Honda only sells the entire throttle assembly, and it ain't cheap. Yet it seems only the electronic bit is only piece that ever goes bad.

Aftermarket sells this individual electronic piece. Dirt cheap. Its actually a part meant for a Pilot I think. Its not a perfect match, unfortunately. Requires very meticulous install. Balance between tripping position too low and too high.

I posted a diy thread on it a while back.
