Question Loss of power after intake install?

so i installed a k&n fipk on my04 couple of days ago. when i drove it the car felt sluggish, but i didnt reset the ecu so i didnt think much of it. the next day i reset the ecu and TRIED to drive it hard afterwards, and still the car feels very sluggish.

for example; lets say im in 3rd gear going 30, and i floor it - it lags a little then starts accelerating, very slowly. it feels as if im in 5th gear going 30. throttle response feels off and car feels weird.

i really dont know what the problem could be, i checkd the intake, and everything seems to be in order. please help me if youve had experience with this problem!!

Sounds like the throttle body is not opening all the way, something in its way?

wouldn't hurt to check, be sure to leave the recommended amount of free play...

i dont know about you, but 3rd gear 30 in my car with fipk doesnt go fast either. sounds normal to me. doesnt start picking up till around 3.5-4k.

due to open filter, the FIPK is for the top end power. i have gone across the AEM V.1 CAI, FIPK and finally went back to stock. the FIPK will definitely felt sluggish and lose power below 4k rpm,but will noticeably increase the power around 7k-9k.

even if it did cause low end power loss...

it would be minimal and hardly noticeable...

u sure you're not exagerating the loss of power?

if not, you've got a problem that isn't the intake, unless it was botched install.

I agree with terahertz, 3rd gear at 30 mph would seem sluggish. Down shift to 2nd then floor it. Our cars are made for the higher RPM's, thus vtech at 6000. My car rarely sees 3000rpms unless I'm in 1st gear or stop & go traffic.
With all due respect, I would try reseting the ecu (for more than a couple min.) and check over everything again.
Almost every comment I've heard on FIPK was "I LOVE IT"...
