Not much help here but how did you manage to damage/score the walls of cylc 4? How much mileage on the engine? Did you upgrade with the later 4 hole banjo bolt?

Interesting, thanks for the reply. Was oil changed on a regular basis? Track usage? Does it see VTEC often? I have read a lot of cycl 4 failures with early AP1. Just wondering if it can be prevented as i have a super early AP1 as well.

Thanks.

^ Also no clue to any of those questions... just bought it recently as a repo so I'm not sure what kind of history it's been through.

mine got scored after going on a group drive, i was low on on oil and had the earlier banjo bolts

i think if i had the proper amount of oil or the updated banjo bolts, it would've been fine

now i check my oil every day and have the updated banjo bolts

Are the early AP1 banjo bolts defective or something?

Would that be caused by the scored cylinder allowing combustion into the wedge between the piston and cylinder?

Status update: I think Bill may be right about that scored wall... Can't really get any clear pictures of it, but it looks like there are streaks on both sides of #4 cylinder each about 2" wide.
Streaks are as wide as the piston skirt, and appear black yes?

Noises can be hard over the internet sometimes, but high compression in #4 was a dead giveaway.

did you do any high spped runs? was the car ever supercharged or turbo?
