Default Loud squawking/squeaking when starting car

Anyone have experience with this? At start I hear a loud squawking or squeaking that last for about 2 seconds then goes away

most deff the serp. belt. get er changed.

it should be fairly easy..just rememeber how it goes back if youre going to do it yourself. usually they have a routing pattern/template underhood somewhere.

i've had it screech like a teradactyl on my mp62 supercharged celica. for a squeal, the best case scenario is a loose belt and the worse case is a bad tensioner. for the celica it's a beach to remove and the part is a hydraulic sprung assembly that runs for $160...

haven't had a loose belt on the s2k yet though. but, i'm not supercharged (yet)...

Or... it might be the starter.

I never experienced this until I started towing the car to the track. But now that I have, occasionally the first time I start it up after rolling it off the trailer it makes the most annoying squeeling/whining noise.

I'm pretty sure it is the Bendix gear.

Serp = Serpentine, probably called that because of the way it slithers around the engine.

Yup, only happens when the engine is cold.

Mine makes the starter noise. Has for about a year now. It only does it about once a week and only when it sits overnight.

I think I have the same noise but on my Civic. It makes the same sound as when you try to start a car that's already on. It only lasts for about a second and only happens when it's really cold outside (like late fall and winter in the northeast) and it's been sitting for hours. It's been doing that for probably 2+ years now but the car still starts fine.
